We all paint the same painting in order to learn from each other. I usually choose a different flower once a year. Painting the same thing over and over, in my case, means the paintings get better and better. At the end of a year I have to change to something else because I start getting bored with doing the same thing over and over. I think both women did a wonderful job!
I just finished this painting on Monday. Unfortunately, my camera doesn’t seem to be working so used my cell phone to take this picture. It’s not so great. Anyway, here is it. At the moment, it has a very simple name until I can think of something more clever. “Yellow Roses”, oil on canvas, 3′ x 4′ x 2″.
I just finished this painting on Friday. It is oil on canvas, 3′ x 4′. I definitely need to come up with a better title than “pink roses”! My problem with titles is that I don’t like literary titles (a rose is a rose is a rose) or obscure titles (The Belgian Encounter) or sexual (Velvet Embrace). I usually stick with the simple title. I will report back after I have decided…
I just finished the background on my current painting. You can see the under painting (flat pink wash and more detailed wash on leaves and glass jar). I am currently working on the rose petals. It is fairly large at 3 feet by 4 feet.
The Art and Design Center where I have my gallery, The Fabrica Aurora, is having their annual Summer White Party next week. There will be lots of food and drink. There will also be four bands playing in different spots around the center. The group Trio Los Romanticos, will be playing right outside my door all night! I love that band! Hope to see you all there. Here is the invitation.
Here is a painting I am working on. It is watercolor and gold on paper. Unfortunately, Potter died while we were working on photographs. What a sad day that was. Here is a photo of the painting underway…
I just watched a wonderful movie called “The Way”, starring Martin Sheen and directed by his son, Emilio Estevez. It is about a journey across France and Spain on the Camino de Santiago. I watch a lot of movies and I just have to say that this movie was fantastic! I highly recommend it. It’s sad and spiritual and the scenery is beautiful. After watching it, I want to walk the Camino myself. I am checking into dates to walk to avoid bad weather (it takes somewhere between one and two months to walk). Back to the movie, check out the movie trailer:
